| The Panasonic HDCSD10 features a 16x optical zoom. You can zoom close to catch dynamic shots of distant objects. And because the zoom is optical, there's limited image degradation. Also, Panasonic's Advanced O.I.S. helps prevent blurring - typically a big concern when shooting with a zoom. This combination of optical zoom and Advanced O.I.S. gives you the ability to take fantastic zoom shots. You get all the beauty and minimal blurring. There's nothing more disappointing than shooting a once-in-a-lifetime event on video, only to discover that the images are blurry or poorly exposed because of backlighting. Panasonic's iA helps avoid problems in difficult shooting situations by automatically making the optimal camera settings and activating certain functions. For example, iA now includes AF Tracking, a new function that "locks" on and follows a subject as it moves, so images are sharply focused and properly exposed. This technology is a huge help for everyone. HD images contain 6 times as much information as standard images. HDTV has 1,080 horizontal scan lines, SDTV has 480. That translates into much higher resolution and much finer detail. With HD images on an HDTV, pictures are so clear and sharp that you can see textures. The shift in the industry from SDTV to HDTV is well underway. For shooting once-in-a-lifetime scenes that you want to capture in full beauty, the Panasonic HDCSD10 camcorder is the best choice. | originally i bought the standard definition panasonic camcorder, and the people at best buy assured me i would not be able to tell the difference between that and high def on my TV, so i tried it and they lied. i then bought this camera off amazon and not only is it super high def quality, but its so easy to use the touch screen display is great, and is sooooo light weight. |

I researched several brands which were, at least, twice more expensive than this one. In my observation, it is very easy to handle and compact enough to carry around. It is small, and many reviewers complained about the low light shooting. I think it is more to what you are going to use this one for. I shoot some footages in my basement at night, and it showed more grains, but the quality is fine to acceptable.
The video image was good enough to see clear difference in quality and sharpness on my 42 inch HD LCD. The price is close to those standard definition camcorders, but its video quality is superior.
I am more than happy with its performance, not necessarily the price I paid.
The included battery lasts about 1 hr 30 min, and the battery-time is displayed on the screen, so, you can easily spot how much juices remain. Also, I bought a 16GB SDHC Class 6 card, and it could hold 1hr (Very high) or 2:30 (2nd high setting). In both settings, I was very pleased to watch footages on a HDTV.
Maybe in 1-2 years, we will have much more advanced technology, why bother to spend any more?

| This is a great little camera, excellent video and photos outdoor and indoor...only used it for one day but so far, I'm satisfied with this camera. So simple to operate, didn't need to read the manual to create movies, photos and playback on HD TV. Perhaps I'm not as critical as some of the reviewers but I simply cannot find anything wrong with this camera, I think it's one of the best in this price range. |

My sony camcorder broke few weeks back and I was looking for a decent HD one without breaking my wallet. For the price I paid 280@amazon, this is a great camcorder. This is smaller than the length of Iphone 3gs :) I recorder videos inside only so far and I am impressed with quality. I use a class 6 card and record at the highest settings. Conversion to mpeg is easy with the software provided.
Upload to youtube is also 1 click away from the software. If you are a professional videographer this is not for you but for capturing kids videos indoor/outdoor this works great.
This camcorder supports viera link. Just connect the HDMI cable(not provided) to TV and you can use the TV remote to control the camcorder.

| I bought this several weeks ago when it was on sale. I'm happy with it. The footage it produces is very good, the low light performance, while not great, is acceptable. It's very small and very easy to use, and the optical image stabilizer is fantastic. All in all, it's a solid step up from a flip camcorder, though certainly not as good as one of the more expensive canons. But for now, this is an affordable high def camcorder that works well for family video shoots. |
