 Great amateur camcorder for the price |

I purchased this camcorder for my boyfriend's birthday (May 2008). I loved it so much I went out and bought myself one.
The picture quality is amazing for the price. I am very impressed. It is not a low-light (no light) camera. You need moderate lighting to see your subject when shooting indoors or at night. Keep in mind - this is not a professional quality camcorder. If you are looking for a professional camcorder this is not the product for you.
The sound is decent if your subject is talking loudly at a distance or near the mic (be careful not to block the mic with your finger when hand-holding the camera)
Solid construction and features compared to similar products in its price range.
The lens has no cover (similar to that of a camera cell phone) so be sure to place the camera in its carrying case when not in use to prevent scratches on the lens.
The camcorder is very portable and is simple to use. It has minimal buttons and basic features (on, off, record, stop, play, volume, etc)
Again... it is NOT a professional camera. If image stabilization, sound and low light are important features that you MUST have - this is NOT the camcorder for you. This is an amateur camcorder - I believe it serves its purpose and produces quality recordings for the price. |

My wife and I found this camera after searching for a gift for her father. We liked it so much that we bought one for ourselves as well. I had some basic criteria I wanted in a handheld camera based on things that irritated me in other cameras. First, the camera should use AA batteries instead of a built-in battery. My experience is that the built-in battery will eventually need to be replaced as the charge time gets shorter and shorter with every charge and, when it runs down, your out of luck until it recharges.
Second, SD card storage. SD cards are cheap and most laptops have SD card readers. Micro SD cards are too small for me to manipulate easily.
Third, A camera that can take still pictures as well as video. I take a lot of pictures with this camera and post them in an online blog. All the shots I've taken with this camera look great to me. This camera has no flash but even the low light shots look good, in my opinion. I had to dig a bit to find out if this camera could take still photos since it is not expressly mentioned in the ad material and was pleased to discover that it does.
Other nice things about this camera are that it came packaged with a case, tripod, battery recharger, and batteries. We paid $59.95 for this and we feel it was well worth the money.
Note that I am not a professional photographer nor do I have enough knowledge about photography to correctly utilize the extra controls that pro. level cameras support. The quick, easy point and shoot variety of cameras like this one suit me just fine.

Personally I got the camera from BestBuy for sale for $29.99 and got what I wanted. A
HD camcorder that fits in my pocket and very inexpensive what more can you ask for. Unless you be taking professional videos with it, I wouldn't recommend it. Just for your everyday use like weddings,Youtube vids,family vacations, etc. One thing I like about it is its ease of use. Just an easy point and shot kinda layout. So for beginners highly recommend it for the price and quality of course. |

I have looked at this camera package several times over the past year or so at WalMart. Thought it was a decent deal when it went on sale for about nintydollars. Now they are closing them out for under fiftydollars. For that money, it was worth giving it a go! I have had this camera for about a week and find it quite worth what I paid.
Firstly, I'll get the negatives out of the way...
--No optical zoom. (Digital zoom is typically unacceptable under any circumstances.)
--No image stabilization of any kind. But then, this is a low-budget camera.
--A flip-out screen would be nice. But again, this is a budget priced unit.
--The USB plug is built-in and I don't like the idea of hanging my camera by its USB plug. Use an extension cable.
That's about all I can find in the negative area so far.
Positives!
--This camera comes with EVERYTHING you will need to get started straight away!
--Batteries: Included..TWO sets! With a charger!
--SD Card: Included! 2Gig.
--Tripod: Included! Mini tripod.
--Carrying case: Included! You'll want to use this...the camera has no lens cover.
--CD with software is included, but not necessary to use with camera. It is basically a plug and play unit.
--Since this camera uses standard AA size batteries, you can put in a set right away and start shooting.
If you want a kit that will have you out there making videos quickly, literally within minutes, this is a great deal.
Video quality is OK. Nothing spectacular to be sure, but it is good enough for general video making for many general home videos.
In very bright light situations, such as bright sun on snow or white sand, the picture can seem a bit "washed out". Some brighter colors seem to flair out a bit.
Low light, as is typical of many cameras, presents problems. A bit grainy looking and the video tends to blur slightly on top of the graininess.
In medium to bright light, the quality is good. This seems to be the "comfort zone" for this camera.
I would certainly recommend this little camera package as a first time camera for someone just starting out. Or for someone who is on the go a lot and wants something small and simple. I can also recommend this as a second camera. It works well for getting different anges of the same shot...as is often seen in music videos.
***I found an added bonus! This camera WILL take still pictures! It is not mentioned anywhere on the box, so this was a bit of a surprise to me. I don't typically use a video camera to take stills, but it is a nice feature to have if you need it.
This is a good little BASIC camera. I might even go out and buy another one, just to have it around!

| i used this cam to record some drift runs at the track it worked great i bought it at walmart on clearence for 50 with all the fixins and managed use the tripod as a dash mount haha. but it took good video for wanted it for but the sound isnt up to par with the picture quality in my opinion [...] |
